Southern or northern hemisphere in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
Before you arrive on your island, Méli and Mélo will ask you a few questions, and you will have to choose your hemisphere in particular! You will have the choice between the southern hemisphere et the northern hemisphere, and this will have a direct impact on your game: if you live in the northern hemisphere and you choose the southern hemisphere, you will experience the reversed seasons ! For example, in winter you will be in summer, and vice versa. The hemisphere chosen will also have an impact on the fish et bugs who will be on your island. They are not the same depending on the hemisphere and the time of year!
We therefore recommend that you choose the hemisphere corresponding to where you live, so that the seasons match. In addition, this may impact certain events, such as the Easter update which takes place at the game's release!
Be careful, you cannot go back on your decision once you have made your choice!
Which island to choose?
Concerning the island, Méli and Mélo will offer you to choose between 4 topographies (or layouts) of different islands. There really isn't a good or bad choice to be made at this level, choose the one you like the most ! However, we recommend that you take the one where the space where the Residents office (the leaf icon) is the biggest, because initially you won't be able to cross rivers!
