Fishing is one of the most popular activities in Animal Crossing New Horizons, because the fish allow you to fill the Bébêtopédie, but also to obtain bells by selling them. Some of them are worth more than others due to their rarity, notably the Macropinna for example. We explain to you how to put all the chances on your side to fish it!

This information works if your island is in the northern hemisphere.
Name | Period | Hour | Location | Price | Sizes | |
Macropinna | All year-round | 21am-4pm | Ocean | 15 Bells | 2 |
This very rare fish from Animal Crossing: New Horizons can be fished all year. You will usually find it late in the evening or at night, between 21h and 4h. To have a chance of catching it, you will have to fish in theocean ! This is a rather small fish (2nd size out of 6 total), so avoid all large fish if you're specifically looking to catch this one!
If you fish it, you can resell your Macropinna for 15 Bells, or donate it to the museum if you're catching it for the first time!
How to catch rare fish on Animal Crossing?
To have a better chance of getting rare fish, we advise you to go to mystery islands ! These are usually good places to catch rare fish, like sturgeon or golden trout for example. You can also try to get some with bait, but the success rate is lower. You can craft bait by finding clams in the sand!
