The Hero are the most important cards in Artifact. They are the most powerful units in the game and greatly influence their game. Here's everything you need to know about them.
A Hero is defined by 5 characteristics:
→ Its color
→ Its statistics (Attack - Armor - Life)
→ Son Ability
→ His Signature Cards
→ His inventory
A Hero's color determines which cards you can play in a Lane. For example, if you have a Blue Hero like Crystal Maiden, you can play Blue cards in the Lane where she is present. If you don't have any Heroes matching the color of your cards, you can't play them.
Signature Cards are Hero-related cards that are automatically added to your deck when you choose a Hero. Since you must have 5 Heroes to play, you will have 15 Signature Cards in your deck.
A Hero has 3 slots in his inventory, one for each type of Item he can equip. He can carry a Weapon, an Armor and a Trinket.
The hero in play
A Hero card costs no resources and cannot be played from the hand or drawn. They are played automatically as the game progresses.
When creating your deck, you choose the order in which your Heroes will be summoned. The first three Heroes are summoned at the start of the game, one per Lane. You deploy the fourth Hero in the Lane of your choice at the start of the second turn, and the last Hero at the start of the third turn.
When a Hero is killed, he goes to the Fountain for 2 turns. Once this time has passed, it is deployed at the start of the turn in the Lane of your choice.
