Blu-ray PS5 and 4K UHD: can PlayStation 5 play them?

Le PS5 play Blu-ray 4K UHD? Despite marketing the PS4 Pro as a 4K Ultra-HD console, Sony decided to cut costs on the system's disc drive, which meant it couldn't play 4K UHD Blu-rays. But did it repeat the same mistake with the PlayStation 5? As part of our Guide PS5, we'll reveal all about the next-gen console's disc drive, and also dig into the other types of physical media it can read. Blu-ray PS5 and 4K UHD: can PlayStation 5 play them?

Yes, the good news is that The PS5 can play 4K UHD Blu-rays. That means you'll be able to watch 4K Ultra-HD movies at 2160p on the console. However, it's worth mentioning that the PS5 Digital Edition does not include a disc slot, and therefore cannot play Blu-rays at all. You'll need to purchase the standard PS5 model to enjoy 4K UHD Blu-rays.

In addition to 4K UHD Blu-rays, the The PS5 can also play standard Blu-rays at 1080p et traditional DVDs. Again, you'll need to own the PS5 with a disc slot in order to take advantage of physical media.
