Battlefield 2042 is playable on various platforms and supports cross-play. However, PS4 and PS5 players cannot play Battlefield 2042 together. This is because the game has no cross-generational support due to technical differences between console generations.
Battlefield 2042 supports up to 128 players for PC and the latest console generation. However, due to hardware limitations, the latest generation consoles – Xbox One and PlayStation 4 – only support a maximum of 64 players in a match.

If you are a PS5 user, you cannot match your PS4 counterparts. Basically, PS4 players can only match with other PS4 or Xbox One users. In order to experience the large-scale battles of 128 players, you need to play Battlefield 2042 on a PS5, PC, or Xbox Series X|S.
Additionally, you can disable or enable crossplay in game settings. Keep in mind that disabling crossplay may result in longer matchmaking times as you limit the number of players you can play with. Battlefield 2042 also offers multiple purchase options for different requirements and compatibilities.
