Mario Kart Tour: Jungle Tour Challenge List

May 27, 2020 We have included Tour 2 Challenges for the Jungle Tour. Go get your remaining rewards!

Nintendo has done a stellar job of translating the combat racing experience of Mario Kart to the touchscreen. Perhaps the most impressive feature is the ability to play with just one thumb; albeit rather awkwardly. You automatically accelerate and can tap and swipe the screen to drift or spin (depending on your chosen control scheme) in either direction. Using items requires a simple tap or tap (you'll be holding them behind you defensively otherwise), and everything else is automatic. This includes jumps, boosts, cheats and more.

The entire structure of the experience is also completely different. While hallmark multiplayer is present (finally!), you'll spend most of your time participating in bi-weekly tours, which provide you with a series of cups to complete. Beat them and you'll earn Grand Stars, a currency that unlocks seasonal rewards like new drivers, karts, gliders, and tickets, which you use to upgrade. To get the biggest stars, not only will you have to perform well in the cups (Mario Kart Tour is based on a point-based system, so scoring points is more important than getting first place), but you'll have to also complete a series of challenges.

These reward you for performing a wide variety of actions, from successfully using items to achieving boosts. While many challenges persist, many of them reset every two weeks, along with the new or current tour. We'll get into the specifics later in this guide, though, because that's what it's for.

How do challenges work in Mario Kart Tour?

As we briefly touched on in the introduction, challenges in Mario Kart Tour require you to perform a wide variety of in-game actions and reward you upon completion. There are, however, two different types of challenges: Persistent and Seasonal. Here's a quick breakdown:

  • Persistent Challenges: Don't reset and provide long-term goals that reward you with rubies upon completion
  • Seasonal Challenges: Reset every two weeks and treat yourself to Grand Stars you'll need to unlock seasonal rewards

For clarity, here is the difference between rubies and large stars:

  • Rubies: the premium currency, which you can spend on the pipe for new characters, drivers and karts, and the Coin Rush mini-game, which gives you gold coins
  • Big Stars: A seasonal currency that unlocks bi-weekly rewards, which include coins, rubies, drivers, karts, gliders, tickets, and more.

To be clear, both sets of challenges and rewards are essential to your long-term performance in Mario Kart Tour; especially if you don't plan to spend some (or much) of your real money. You will need as many free things as possible.
