The bugs et May fish officially arrived in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and if you're in the northern hemisphere, the tarantula has been replaced by the scorpion! So you may have tried to make scorpion islands, as was done with tarantulas... but without result? This is normal, and we explain why!

The drop rate of scorpions and tarantulas halved
For several days, the Scorpion is finally available in the northern hemisphere, and the tarantula has been removed ! As with tarantulas, it was possible to make scorpion islands using the same technique: remove all the elements found on a mystery island, and wait for the scorpions to appear. But while trying these last few days, you may have realized that the technique worked poorly, if at all!
The reason is simple: more than a week ago, Nintendo reduces the spawn rate of many insects, and scorpions and tarantulas were heavily impacted. Basically, these insects were already quite rare, with a 4% drop rate. This rate has been halved, thus passing to 2%, and making these insects even rarer! This info comes from dataminer @_Ninji, who uploaded a chart showing spawn rate changes of all insects.
Tarantula and Scorpion Spawn Rate
If these rates do not change afterwards, when the tarantula returns in November, it will not be possible to redo tarantula islands. It will therefore be necessary to be patient if you want to come across one day.
