Call of Duty lost 50 million players between 2021 and 2022

Recently, Activision's first investor report came out. And the conclusion is somewhat negative. Indeed, according to the document, the Call of Duty series reached 150 million players per month, in 2021. This would be, in particular, due to the popularity of Call of Duty: Warzone.

Unfortunately, since then, these numbers have been declining. The Call of Duty license now has approximately 100 million players. Which means that 50 million users have stopped playing the various games of the license. This would be the biggest drop the series has seen since Warzone officially launched in 2020.

The possible explanations are as follows: it seems that Call of Duty: Vanguard has convinced the community much less, and sales of the title have probably been less satisfactory. In addition, the last seasons of Call of Duty: Warzone were considered "disappointing", due to numerous problems.

Finally, note that Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard are preparing to welcome Season 3, named “Classified Arms”. We told you about it in a dedicated article.
