CD Projekt RED should not be unemployed in the months to come. Between the next-gen updates for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3, which should arrive in 2022, but also other patches to improve the experience of the first, as well as DLCs, there is already plenty to do. But part of the Polish studio will also focus on the new major project, a still mysterious triple A.
However, as indicated by Adam Kiciński, president of the company, in an interview granted to the Polish media Rzeczpospolita, this one will come from one of the two flagship licenses of the studio, i.e. The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. This desire to take advantage of the weight of these two brands had been explained many months ago, but the CEO confirms the ambition of CD Projekt RED to want to take advantage of the success of The Witcher and the potential of Cyberpunk.
We are currently focusing on our two franchises. Both have huge potential, so one of our strategic goals is to start working on AAA projects in parallel within our IPs, which should happen next year.
So we could probably be dealing with a new The Witcher game, since at the beginning of the year 2020, this same Adam Kicinski had specified that after the release of Cyberpunk 2077, the following project would normally take place in the universe of The Witcher. Nevertheless, we shouldn't be dealing with The Witcher 4, since the series that saw the light of day between 2008 and 2015 was designed as a trilogy.
We should know more during the year 2022, but in the meantime, CD Projekt RED will mainly focus on Cyberpunk 2077, which is currently enjoying a flurry of positive reviews on Steam.
