In the months and years to come, Take-Two, parent company of Gearbox, but also 2K or Rockstar, will launch many games. Among them, we will find, according to the CEO of the company Strauss Zelnick, at least one new license developed by Gearbox. The latter obviously did not give any details, except that it is an immersion type game and more precisely a “basic immersive” game, which should land before April 2022.
While this may seem enigmatic, Karl Slatoff, president of Take-Two, explains that this category is defined by a very engaging gameplay, citing, for example, licenses such as GTA, Red Dead Redemption or Borderlands, which should not displease fans of this kind of productions. Moreover, during the conference call on the financial results (via VGC), we learn that Borderlands 3 had exceeded 13 million copies sold since its release in 2019.
Recall that Gearbox had recently expressed its desire to work on a new license, which finally seems to be the case. The project is therefore expected before April 2022, which implies that we could learn more soon. According to rumors, the studio would also be working on a new episode of the Borderlands license.
