Climbing gear is a highly sought after item and type of gear in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Its main use is to improve your climbing ability without having to sacrifice extra stamina. In this guide, we'll tell you where to find this set of useful gear and how to upgrade it to its first form.
Climbing gear in Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The complete set of climbing equipment includes climbing boots, climber's bandana and climbing gear. These three coins can all be found in three different chests placed throughout the map. Full set locations are listed below.
Climbing equipment

The chest itself is located in the Chaas Qeta Shrine. You'll find this shrine on the island in the middle of the Necluda Sea, which is in the southeast corner of the map. Its location is highlighted in red in the image above. To reach the chest, you need to go through the shrine and defeat the guardian at the end. The chest will then be available in front of the Spirit.
Climbing boots

The Climbing Boots are located in the Tahno O'ah Shrine, which is directly southeast of Mount Lanayru on the eastern side of the map. You will need to use bombs to blow up a rock face that hides this shrine. Once inside, there are no more challenges. You can just walk in and open the chest to get the climbing shoes.
Climber's Bandana

The Climbers Bandana is located in Ree Dahee Shrine, one of Dueling Peaks' shrines. There are two shrines here, and you'll enter the eastern shrine to get the Climber's Bandana. The chest containing the item is on the left side of the room at the top of a ramp that you force to tilt down.

Shop
You can buy all climbing gear items from Granté in Tarrey Town once you first get them. Each item costs a total of 4000 rupees.
Upgrades
To upgrade your climbing gear, you can bring specific items to the Great Fairy Fountains. The list below includes all the items you will need to upgrade gear to each respective tier.

- 3 x Rushroom
- Two stars
- Two great fairies unlocked
- 5 x Keese electric wing
- 5 x Hightail Lizard
