Super Mario 64: How to take out the eel

If you're one of the many trying Super Mario 64 for the first time, or you've returned to the game after a long time and can't remember how to complete things, you're probably wondering what to do with this huge eel looking menacing in its hideous hole! Well, we're going to show you exactly what you need to do to get him to play so you can earn that power star and complete the level.

How to draw eel

To take out the eel in Super Mario 64, you'll have to get dangerously close to him and hang around without being so close that he can bite into your fashionable overalls. Once you tempt him with the possibility of a meal long enough, he'll start swimming outward and you'll find the star you need attached to his tail. You must swim quickly after to catch the star or you will have a hard time catching it. The eel will eventually return to its hole if you missed the star and you can start the process over.

The best way to protect yourself from the eel is to go below. You should be able to get close enough to it and still avoid taking damage. Once you see the eel start making its way out of the hole, you should start swimming towards its body so you can get close enough to it to grab the star without it escaping.

Once you touch the star, it will return to the front of the Eel Cave area. So you just have to swim over there and collect it! If you're having trouble with the eel, you can watch this quick video guide from Release-Fire on exactly how the process is accomplished!
