Paper Mario: The Origami King Snifit Mood Guide

Trying to guess the Snifit vibe in Paper Mario: The Origami King? Of course you are. That's why you are here.

As you play Paper Mario: The Origami King, you'll eventually come to a place where you'll need a sequel key to continue, but where is it? Asking around Shroom City will reveal that Key Finder Luigi has been browsing the shops in town, and his search will reveal that he met a terrible fate.

To free it, get the key, and continue in the game, you'll need to play a (mostly) rigged Snifit game run by a merchant who tasks you with guessing their Snifit mood. If you enter this section of the game unprepared, you may face some frustration, so we're here to help.

How to guess Snifit mood

In the northwest corner of Shroom City, you'll find a Merchant's Stand decorated with a huge lamp. It's stamped with a familiar-looking green L. Before proceeding and participating in the game, however, you'll need to do two things:

  • Make sure you have over 1100 coins
  • Save your game

The Snifit game will cost you at most 1100 coins, and if you lose (or refuse to play a second round of your choice or due to lack of funds), the game will be over. Better be careful here.

The actual game, however, is quite simple. First, you will pay the 100 Snifit Coins, which will give you three chances to guess their mood. Of course, since they're wearing a mask, it's impossible to tell what the mood really is, and the correct answers are mostly random.

We recommend picking random answers for these guesses, although there have been reports of players getting lucky early guessing "Sad Sniff" on their second guess. However, we have not been able to independently verify this.

If you guessed incorrectly at the end of the game, the Snifit game will continue, provided you pony up to 1000 more coins. Again, you must do this, or you will get an immediate game.

The first two guesses will proceed the same way, with random correct answers. Don't worry though, the Snifit will drop on the third attempt. They will skid and let out a chuckle right before your final guess, meaning their mood is "Snickering Sniff".

Choosing this option won't net you the advertised 10000 coin prize, but it will allow you to free Luigi and collect the suite key. You can use it to continue (and, for what it's worth, find the infamous NSFW collectible #69. Nice.)
